"When we arrived the guard told us that we couldn't go in because the room was filled. This was not true. There were plenty of seats as we later learned, but someone say it was being taped and so people weren't being allowed in for a while. We hadn't been told in advance that this was to happen. There was little time for or means of talking with others, though the one person we met coming in was a refreshing change from the rest of the evening. There was no time for general discussion. The panel focused on the election rather than the broader issue of the impact of the Internet on politics. I had hoped to ask why there seemed so little general discussion about significant issues during the election, such as what the US policy is with regard to Iran and how to have the US policy be one that is less like the devastating policy the US adopted with regard to Iraq. But there was no real chance to discuss this or other broader issues. The meeting was very disappointing."
